In order to ensure that the forklift truck is maintained to a high standard and to ensure defects are reported, it is essential that the truck is subject to daily pre-use operational checks. This is also a requirement of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998.

The first forklift truck operator to use the truck, on the day it is required, will visually examine the vehicle and run the vehicle through a sequence of tests to ensure the truck is operating safely.

ANY DEFECTS MUST BE REPORTED TO THE MANAGER / SUPERVISOR IMMEDIATELY.

Reversing alarm and horn working?

Is the battery ok?

Battery is fully charged and secured in place?

Are the seating and overhead guard ok?

Seating and overhead guard in working order?

Are Chains and forks ok?

There is no visible damage to any of the lifting gear??

Is Hydraulics ok?

There are no visible hydraulic leaks?

Are Fluid levels (distilled water) ok?

All fluid levels are correct?
